Discover The Joys of Learning

Our curriculum is based on the best practices in education, and it is the framework our teachers use to plan and implement exciting variety of activities, projects, and key experiences in literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology.

Our curriculum:

  • Emphasizes both traditional academic subjects and hands-on thematic explorations that encourage individual skills and emerging interests in academics, creative expression, and outdoor learning.
  • Is not aligned with one particular philosophy but it is rather inspired by many approaches to learning, such as Inquiry, Reggio Emilia, Harvard’s Project Zero, and other philosophies that build what we believe to be a best practices approach for teaching our students.
  • Provides enriching experiences that stimulate the senses of children and spark their curiosity which helps to promote an interest in learning that lasts a lifetime; an approach that transforms even reluctant students into engaged learners!
  • Supports the interests and needs of individual children through a play and inquiry-based learning approach; it maximizes adult interaction with children, enabling meaningful observations that inform future learning focuses and also reflects our high expectations for children’s individual achievement.

Children learn best when an activity is interesting and has meaning for them personally. With that in mind, we have broken our curriculum into the following components to support learning and play:

  • Language Rules: A comprehensive language arts program that integrates reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
  • Math Smarts: Focuses on counting, the basics of adding and subtracting, sorting, identifying and creating patterns, measurement and problem solving.
  • Science Matters: Encourages children to build knowledge and understand scientific concepts through active participation in the process of scientific inquiry.
  • Art Inspires!: Provides children with the opportunity to explore many different types of art materials to represent their world, thoughts and ideas, and express themselves through music and dance.
  • Our Heritage: Acknowledges and values family, culture, and community. It provides simple geographic knowledge within the context that evolution of each child’s social understandings about the world begins with self and family.
  • Movement Works: The "Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds" part of our curriculum that is integrated into daily activities which facilitates the development of motor skills in the children, and a disposition to be physically active.
  • Technology: Supports the use of computers with developmentally appropriate activities for key learning goals to provide increases in knowledge, long-term memory, verbal skills, problem solving, and manual dexterity. Educational technology is integrated into the learning environment in ways that support what and how children learn.
  • Handwriting: We use Handwriting Without Tears® (HWT), a multi-sensory program designed to help children develop the necessary skills for correct pencil grip, letter recognition and letter formation. It provides hands on activities that give the children the freedom to explore while developing the basic handwriting techniques.

Every day we see evidence that play and inquiry-based learning with intentional adult guidance is a powerful tool in developing genuine interest in learning, empowering children to be confident, successful, lifelong learners.

Everything we do is designed for learning and play!
